The regional directorate for the Southern provinces of the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA) and the Association of Goat and Sheep Breeders in Smara have signed a convention aimed at fighting against contagious animal diseases and those with a negative economic effect on livestock. The convention signed by the regional director of the ONSSA and the president of the Association of Goat and Sheep Breeders of Smara aims to define the conditions of partnership between the signatories. It commits the director of the ONSSA to organise veterinary campaigns for the prevention of contagious animal diseases on the territory of Smara. The Office will work to raise awareness among breeders and provide them with advice in the veterinary field and to mobilise mobile veterinary teams in field interventions for the vaccination and treatment of herds against contagious animal diseases according to the programme in progress, each year. The ONSSA will also provide veterinary medicines and vaccines against intestinal intoxications, once a year, in addition to the treatment of cases of particular diseases. It will provide logistical means for mobile veterinary intervention teams such as transport means and other technical equipment for injections and the conservation of vaccines and medicines. For its part, the Association commits, within the framework of said convention, to raise awareness and guide breeders for a wider contribution to the campaigns initiated by the Office and the influx to the gathering places provided for by the intervention programme. It commits to providing assistance to provincial veterinary teams and services in areas relating to the interventions provided for by the veterinary campaign programme.
