Urban planning coverage, top priority

The completion of urban planning document coverage for its territory of intervention in the provinces of Errachidia and Midelt remains one of the priority objectives of the Errachidia Urban Agency.
Urban planning coverage, top priority

According to an Auer report, the Agency's services are monitoring the studies already launched, namely the Sdau of the Gheris valley, the PAs of all urban centres in the province, the Pacs of four communes, as well as the PDARs of the rural centres of: Fezna, Aoufous (Errachidia province), and Kerrando, Nzala, and Imilchil (Midelt province).

For the first half of this year, and in accordance with its 2010 action plan, the Urban Agency launched the study of the Lkheng Pac, the rural commune bordering the city of Errachidia, a territory whose development is of strategic importance for the city of Errachidia, the capital of the province.

This study will allow the Auer to have a prospective reference document allowing this city to develop in a more serene manner by developing other economic and social activities that generate added value for the city and its population.

As for general and specific studies, priority was given this year to the upgrading and development of sites with high attractiveness potential at the provincial and regional level, through the launch of the study for the urban and architectural upgrading of the Meski Blue Springs site near Errachidia downstream of the Oued Ziz.

This study is in addition to the one already initiated, which concerns the urban and architectural upgrading of the thermal stations Hammat My Ali Cherif and My Hachem in the rural commune of Guers Tiâllaline (Midelt province).

"Alongside territorial planning, which allows the Urban Agency to have regulatory and strategic tools essential for the accomplishment of its missions, the Errachidia Urban Agency is also active in the urban management of its territory of intervention," can be read in this report, a copy of which was received on Monday by MAP.

As for the pace of processing files, the Auer processed 1,188 construction files during the first half of 2010, of which 771 received a favourable opinion (65% of the files processed), which represents a clear increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

These projects, which cover an area of 93,166 m2, involve an investment estimated at 143 million DH, with the economic housing sector leading the number of projects processed in the province with a total of 541 units, which represents 70.17% of the total projects processed by the Agency.

And to better stimulate the economic development of the province's urban centres, and promote investment projects of great importance, the Urban Agency submitted 5 derogation files in terms of urban planning to the regional derogation commission during the first half of this year; 3 of them received approval in principle, while the other 2 were deferred.

At this level, and during the first half of this year, the Urban Agency carried out control actions that concerned more than 70 construction sites. These control actions made it possible to identify 55 infractions, the nature of which differs from one site to another.

The preservation of the architectural character and local aesthetic specificities is a value in which the Errachidia Urban Agency strongly believes; it is in this context that it is continuing the study of the architectural and landscape charter of Errachidia, a study that will lead to the development of a reference document outlining the new built landscape of the province.

Spatial organisation, the improvement of the population's living environment, as well as the stimulation of new wealth-creating activities and development opportunities, are all drivers of the Errachidia Urban Agency's dynamic action.
