The hailstorms recorded in the communes of Aoufous, Outerbat, Sidi Aayyad, and Hssiya caused damage to agricultural production, particularly regarding apple trees.

"Farmers must now think about acquiring anti-hail equipment and structuring themselves into an association or a cooperative, in order to coordinate efforts with the services concerned and avoid such losses," indicated Mohamed Bousfoul, head of the irrigation and drainage network management service at the ORMVAT. Furthermore, while for irrigation infrastructure, the damage recorded only reached 1.5 million DH, the losses reported in agricultural production reached 11.1 million DH, particularly in the Aoufous area, in the Errachidia circle, the same source adds.

According to this same provisional report from the ORMVAT, the losses recorded concerned olive trees (1,200 tonnes), date palms (500 tonnes) with the uprooting of about twenty date palms, and apple trees with 450 tonnes. The ORMVAT services assure that the losses recorded for olive and date trees do not affect the overall projected production in any way, as they only constitute about 1.5%.

Quite the contrary, it is also possible to take a positive look after the recent rainfall, according to the same sources, since the passage of the flood of the Oued Ziz had the effect of increasing the volume of the Hassan Addakhil dam reservoir, which went from 284 Mm3 to 321 Mm3, i.e., an intake of around 37 Mm3. This volume, which represents a 100% filling rate, has only been observed once (October 2008) during the dam's operating period (39 years).

In addition, the passage of these significant floods in the various wadis and tributaries of the area of action has made it possible to improve the flow of springs and khettaras and to increase the level of the water table.
