Rissani.. A Ramadan evening in the art of Samaa and Madih

Rissani (Errachidia Province) – The two icons of the art of Samaâ and Madih, Lhaj Said Berrada and Mohamed El Asri, accompanied by a selection of renowned artists, delighted the audience in the city of Rissani yesterday evening, on the occasion of the opening of the third edition of the “Tafilalet Al-Alima for Madih and Samaâ” festival.

In a spiritual atmosphere at the Rissani Cultural Centre, the two great artists presented to an audience fond of spiritual music a selection of chants, poems, and invocations in praise of the best of creation.

During this ceremony, festival-goers also had the opportunity to enjoy the performance of the duo Abdesslam Amrani and Mohamed Adrich, who entertained the audience with a selection of chants in both Arabic and Amazigh, drawing from the rich Moroccan spiritual heritage.

In a deeply spiritual atmosphere, the audience also enjoyed invocations and praises of the Chosen Prophet performed by the “Taifa Aissaouia of Fez” group, led by the Moqaddem Ahmed Salim. The evening was also marked by the honoring of artist Majida Benkirane, Sheikh Moulay Mustapha Sellami, and community activist Abdelilah Dekkaki in recognition of their efforts in serving art and culture.

In a statement to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP), festival director Hamza Ouhaddi said: “Thanks to the rich and varied programming that draws from the authenticity of Madih and Samaâ, this festival aims to sustain the practice of this ancient art as a component of Moroccan cultural identity.”

He added that it is also about promoting Tafilalet as a destination for culture and heritage and highlighting the noble roles of the art of Madih and Samaâ in spreading the values of peace, brotherhood, love, and tolerance.

He highlighted that “the program of this event includes evenings hosted by local and national groups, in addition to a seminar highlighting the importance of preserving Sufi heritage with the participation of a selection of academics, researchers, and artists.”

The Tafilalet Al-Alima Festival for Madih and Samaâ, organized by the “Generation of Leaders” association in partnership with the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Culture under the theme “Tafilalet, Oasis of the Spirit and Madih Samaâ”, aims to promote and preserve the art of Samaâ and Madih as an essential component of Moroccan cultural heritage.
