Rissani: Ramadan evening to the rhythms of Samaâ and Madih

Rissani (Errachidia province) – The two great icons of the art of Samaâ and Madih, Lhaj Said Berrada and Mohamed El Asri, accompanied by a group of renowned artists, enchanted the public of the city of Rissani, Friday evening, at the opening of the 3rd edition of the “Tafilalet Al-Alima for Samaâ and Madih” festival.

At the Rissani Cultural Centre and in an atmosphere imbued with devotion and spirituality, the two great singers performed before an audience fond of spiritual music a collection of chants, poems, and invocations in praise of the Prophet Sidna Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him).

During this concert, festival-goers also had the privilege of appreciating the performances of the duo Abdesslam Amrani and Mohammed Adrich, who treated the public to a selection of praises and chants in Arabic and Amazigh languages, drawn from the rich Moroccan spiritual heritage.

In a deeply spiritual atmosphere, the audience in a trance was also carried away by the rhythms, chants, and panegyrics of the Prophet Sidna Mohammed performed by the ”Taifa Aissaouia of Fez” troupe, led by the Moqaddem Ahmed Salim.

The evening was also enhanced by poignant tributes paid to artist Majida Benkirane, Sheikh Moulay Mustapha Sellami, and community actor Abdelilah Dekkaki in recognition of their efforts in the service of art and culture.

“Thanks to a rich and varied program drawing on the authenticity of Madih and Samaâ, this festival aims to perpetuate the practice of this ancestral art as a component of Moroccan cultural identity”, indicated the festival director, Hamza Ouhaddi.

It is also about promoting Tafilalet as a destination par excellence for culture and heritage and highlighting the noble roles of the art of Madih and Samaâ in promoting the values of peace, fraternity, love, and tolerance, he added in a statement to the MAP.

” On the menu of this event are shows hosted by local and national troupes as well as a conference-debate focused on the preservation of Sufi heritage with the participation of a group of academics, researchers, and artists”, he said.

Placed under the theme ”Tafilalet, the oasis of the spirit”, the Tafilalet Al-Alima festival for Samaâ and Madih tends to value and preserve the art of Samaâ and Madih as a main component of Moroccan cultural heritage.
