Second International Malhoune Meeting: Azemmour and El Jadida in celebration

About a hundred artists from Iran, Lebanon, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco will take part in the second edition of the International Malhoune Meeting, better known under the title «Malhounyat».

«Malhoune, trance, and mysticism». Such is the theme of this edition which will take place simultaneously, from 2 to 4 August next, in Azemmour and El Jadida.

Organised at the initiative of the Cultural Affairs Association and the El Jadida province (APAC), the second edition of «Malhounyat» offers a program reflecting the diversity and richness of spiritual music and song, announced the festival's organisation team. It was during a meeting held in El Jadida, in the presence of Mouad Jamai, governor of the El Jadida province, Mohamed Zahidi, president of the El Jadida Provincial Council, and Abdelhakim Soujda, president of the Azemmour Municipal Council.

Also present at this meeting were Mustafa El Bidouri, president of the Provincial Association for Cultural Affairs, and the artist Sanaâ Marahati.

«All provisions have been taken to ensure the success of this event and offer the Jdidi and Zemmouri publics a pleasant moment, rich in spiritual music and song». It is in these terms, one cannot be more reassuring, that Mr. Abdelilah Janane confided to Libé about «Malhounyat», of which he is the artistic director.

Highly awaited by Moroccans and foreigners whose favourite music it is, this cultural event will welcome several Moroccan troupes and artists. Like: Majda Yahyaoui, Sanaâ Marahati, Asmaâ Lazrak, Mohamed Soussi, Abdel Ali Labriki, and Abdel Majid Rahimi, who will be accompanied by famous Moroccan musicians of the art of Malhoune.

Alongside these Moroccan headliners, Malhoune enthusiasts will be invited to a beautiful performance by «the Lebanese artist Jahida Wahbe (who) will interpret the Sufi repertoire of Jalal Dine Rumi, Ibn Fared, Ibn Zourik, and Jabrane Khalil Jabrane», revealed the promoters of this event.

Other artists expected at this event, the Iranian Ali Réza Ghourbani and the Algerian Rim Hakiki. The first will present songs of Iranian Sufi art while the second «will prospect Algerian popular art», it is specified. For his part, the Tunisian Soufiane Siala was to set the stage on fire thanks in particular to the famous Hadhra of Sidi Mansour – Sfax, promise the organisers.

Let us underline that two sites have been selected to host the various performances planned within the framework of this event: the Braham Moul Niss Square (Azemmour) and the Mohamed V Park (El Jadida).

There will not only be music and song during these festivities. Indeed, the organisers also propose a conference around the theme «Mysticism welcoming the art of Malhoune», on 4 August at the Azemmour captaincy. It will be hosted by Dr. Abbas El Jirari, Fawzi Skalli, and Abd Salam Khalloufi. During their interventions, these illustrious speakers will address various themes related to Man, time, and the spiritual journey in the art of Malhoune…, specify the organisers.

«The night of the spiritual journey», «The night of Sufi trance», and «The night of fraternity and love», are all themes that the public will find throughout this edition, notably through the various announced appointments included in the program of this great cultural event.
