Chairs, parasols, and a library in the shape of a boat. Adults sunbathe while reading. Children are carried away by their books, others move back and forth between their chairs and the shelves of the small library. We are not on an exotic beach, but in El Jadida. The Association of Friends of the Tachfini Media Library, in partnership with the city's Media Library, has installed a beach library to invite bathers to reading sessions with their feet in the sand. Until 31 August, various books are being made available free of charge at Deauville beach to the Jdidis and the thousands of tourists who flock to the city. From children's stories to more complex works, there is something for all ages and all tastes. Between a swim and a game of football, it is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a moment of pleasure and calm.
The El Jadida beach library also helps to distract younger people from computers and video games to cultivate their taste for reading. Launched under the theme "El Jadida reads on holiday", this initiative is now in its third edition. In addition to reading, it offers entertainment, fun workshops for children, meetings with writers, storytelling nights, poetry and music evenings, as well as an exhibition on the memory of El Jadida.
