Since its creation in 1999, the association has carried out 80 missions across the Kingdom and has treated more than 8,770 patients.
For the first time since its creation in Morocco, Operation Smile Morocco is stopping in the city of Dakhla, from 27 March to 4 April.
This humanitarian surgical mission, organised in partnership with the Wilaya of the Oued Ed-dahab-Lagouira region; the Oued Ed-dahab INDH; and the OCP Phosboucraa Foundation, will reach more than 120 children and young adults from the southern provinces and other regions of the Kingdom.
“Registrations will take place on 27 and 28 March at the Hassan II Hospital in Dakhla, before diagnostics are established by a medical team, and subsequently a main list and a supplementary list of patients eligible to undergo surgery during the week from 30 March to 3 April 2015 are drawn up. The day of 4 April will be devoted to post-operative check-ups,” specifies the association.
The care that will be provided to the children will require the mobility of a “highly qualified” volunteer medical team, according to the association, from both Morocco and abroad, and accredited by Operation Smile International. Thus, surgeons, anaesthetists, paediatricians, dentists, speech therapists, nurses, not to mention administrators and a competent and experienced non-medical staff, will take part in this mission.
“Operation Smile is proud to have by its side a Moroccan team which, over the years and after internships, seminars, conferences and missions around the world, has acquired cutting-edge technical expertise that has allowed it to participate in national and international missions (Jordan, Russia, Brazil, Egypt, South Africa, Philippines, Mexico, Vietnam etc.),” affirms Fouzia Jbara Mahmoudi, Vice-President and Co-Founder of Operation Smile Morocco.
Let us recall that, placed under the Honorary Presidency of H.R.H. Princess Lalla Mariam, the association offers free medical care and follow-up to children and young adults. This follow-up is provided at its Centre located in Casablanca.
