The initiatives and various workshops of the Student Conscience club of the Faculty of Sciences of Ain Chock have earned a national reputation over the course of meetings. The latest initiative, "L'ConcerTrottoir", is a musical activity open to everyone, the first act of which took place last Saturday at the Arab League Park, with the objective of bringing together young musicians and artists and developing the concept of urban music in Morocco. "L'ConcerTrottoir is a sort of open-air conservatory, but one that is based more on the exchange of experiences and knowledge than on teaching the basics of music. The first activity, which took place on Saturday, was a preview meeting that allowed us, in the first place, to get to know each other," explains Yassir Bachour, an active member of the Student Conscience club. This activity, organised by the members of the MusiClub of the Faculty of Ain Chock, brought together no less than 60 Casablancans, who came to discuss and debate music, its history in Morocco, and the different musical movements.
"Before starting the debate, we divided ourselves into groups of five people who did not know each other yet, and each group tried to produce a piece of music, a song... After that, each group performed its production in front of everyone. It was our way of opening up to those we didn't know and creating new bonds," indicates Yassir Bachour. And he added: "During the next meetings, which will be organised every Saturday until the end of the summer, we have planned another programme. There will be training in music theory, but also workshops on musical culture, different musical genres, and their compositions... the goal is not essentially production, but rather the creation of a space for sharing." Parallel to this, the Student Conscience club is not limited to a single activity. Indeed, its members have decided to organise two different meetings each week throughout the summer season.
Thus, the "One Hour of Reading" workshop, which stopped during the last two months, is resuming its activities. A first meeting was organised last Sunday at the Arab League Park, under the title "Raj3in", in order to encourage Casablancans to integrate reading into their daily activities and to make this park a place of culture and cultural exchange. According to the club, this meeting is the twentieth in a series of reading workshops.
The "One Hour of Reading" workshops, organised in different public spaces of the White City, are attracting more and more participants. "More than 70 participants responded to the call last Sunday, even though the activity had stopped because of the retake exams, which proves that this workshop is a real success," concludes Yassir Bachour.
Objectives, means: The Student Conscience club is a student club created in 2007 at the Faculty of Sciences of Ain Chock in Casablanca by students. Its goal is to contribute to the establishment of an alternative culture, to develop critical thinking in an objective way among students, to fight against all forms of intellectual oppression within the faculty, to give birth to a spirit of communication and debate between students, and to promote the opening of the faculty to its socio-cultural environment.
