Fruit and vegetable sector trophies: An unmissable event

Fruit and vegetable sector trophies: An unmissable event

Held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at the Royal Atlas in Agadir, under the chairmanship of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries. This 4th edition is held under the theme: "Venture capital and the development of agricultural investments in the Kingdom".

It should be noted that, from September 19 to October 31, 2011, all competitors (professionals and agricultural operators) were invited to apply and that the necessary documents were made available to them on the TROFEL website (www.trofel.grcmaroc.com).

Furthermore, the evaluation of the competitors for the 2011 edition focused on the following aspects: degree of commitment to a quality policy; degree of commitment to a cooperation policy; management rate, technical performance and innovation; rate of direct or indirect valorisation of production; and degree of commitment to an environmental protection policy. The winners of the fourth edition are ten in number, spread across the following regions: Meknès-Tafilalet, Souss-Massa-Drâa, Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz and the Oriental.

TROFEL (Trophies for the fruit and vegetable sector) was created in 2008 with the aim of contributing to the continuous improvement of the fruit and vegetable sector. This is a civic initiative that consisted of creating an annual competition for all farmers in the national territory operating in the fruit and vegetable sector. Managed by Gold Roots Consulting and supported by more than fifty public and private operators, this event has set itself several objectives, including the promotion of professional organisation in Morocco, the dissemination of a good image of Moroccan agriculture, and the valorisation of the efforts of national agricultural operators in their search for excellence.

Having become an unmissable annual event for professionals in the sector and Moroccan agriculture, the trophy presentation ceremony takes place each year during a grand gala evening organised on the eve of SIFEL Agadir (International Fruit and Vegetable Fair of Agadir). TROFEL is experiencing growing success, which it owes in part to the loyalty of its professional partners (APEFEL, ASCAM, ASPAM, ASPEM, AMCEF) as well as to the support of its private partners, whose number continues to increase with each edition.

It should be recalled that the contribution of the fruit and vegetable sector to Moroccan exports is around 20% and its share of GDP is close to 20%. These data clearly show the primary role that this sector plays in the development of the national economy.
