The Rotary Club Casablanca Mers Sultan organised, last Thursday, the second edition of the Social Entrepreneur and Corporate Citizen Awards. The event aims to pay tribute to institutions or companies that have distinguished themselves, each year, through their socio-educational actions in favour of their community. The awards ceremony was presided over by Khalid Safir, Wali of Greater Casablanca. For this edition, the awards went to the Sekkat Foundation, Attijariwafa bank, Cooper Pharma and Lesieur-Cristal, in addition to Abbad El Andalloussi, president of the Injaz Al-Maghrib association, and the architect and designer Zhor Jaidi. Thus, the Social Entrepreneur Award was presented to the Sekkat Foundation. This distinction rewards the years of socio-educational commitment of the foundation, created in 2005, which devotes some 25 million dirhams each year to social works. The foundation intervenes particularly in the fields of education and health. It has thus contributed, among other things, to the construction and management of 4 orphanages in the Greater Casablanca region, which house more than 1,000 residents, as well as the Aïn Chock hospital, whose capacity now reaches 125 beds. One can also mention the Mohamed Sekkat University Library, which covers a covered area of 7,000 m² and was built for an amount of 60 million dirhams. During the ceremony, the Corporate Citizen awards were presented to the Attijariwafa bank Group, Cooper Pharma and Lesieur-Cristal. For his part, Abbad El Andalloussi received the Professional Action Champion Award for his work at the head of the Injaz Al-Maghrib association. Finally, the Designer award was presented to the artist and interior architect Zhor Jaidi. This artist at heart has travelled the world and successfully promoted Moroccan creativity internationally. A tribute was also paid to Professor Mohammed Berrada, a social entrepreneur who dedicated his entire life to the development of his country.
