The town of Tiflet falls under the circle of the same name, dependent on the province of Khémisset, within the Rabat-Salé-Zemmour-Zaër region. It is situated in a relay position on a regional scale. It is located on the edge of the Gharb plain, 56 km east of the national capital, Rabat, and the Atlantic coast.
The town covers an area of approximately 10 km2 and is surrounded by 4 rural communes:
-* to the north: commune of Ait Bou Yahya El Hajjama
-* to the south: commune of Khémis Sidi Yahya
-* to the south-west: commune of Ait Belkacem
-* to the west: commune of Ain El Johra
Tiflet is the second urban centre of the Zemmour region, after Khémisset. On the Rabat-Meknès road axis, it developed around a regional market. Local administrative functions have been maintained since the protectorate and strengthened after Independence. The town's regional influence is limited to the surrounding rural communes, whose populations source various products in its weekly Souk. This has played a role in spatial structuring by ensuring links between the centre and its peripheries and continues to play this role as a local hub of attraction.
The 4 closest small centres are:
-* to the north: M’kam Attolba
-* to the east: Sidi Abderrazzak
-* to the south: Khémis Sidi Yahya
-* to the west: Sidi Allal El Bahraoui
The town of Tiflet is crossed by the RN6 connecting Rabat to Fez via Khémisset and Meknès. The town also contains an access interchange for the new Rabat-Fez motorway which passes to the south of the town.
