The "Tetouan Carnival for Drama and Creativity" Foundation organised, on Wednesday evening at the city's cultural centre, an artistic and poetic evening, with the participation of a group of Tetouani artists, in commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the presentation of the Independence Manifesto.
This cultural event, organised in partnership with the provincial directorate of culture in Tetouan, was marked by a tribute paid to the Space of Historical Memory of Resistance and Liberation of Tetouan and to the city's Cultural Centre, as well as to the poet Abderrahmane Ziouziou and the associative actress Meriem El Ouazzani.
The public, who came in large numbers to this evening, was able to enjoy hits drawn from the repertoire of Arabic and Moroccan songs, which still resonate today with their timeless charm, notably patriotic songs, which were performed with brilliance by the artists Fatiha Amine, Aziz Chahrour and Amina El Alami.
This event was also punctuated by the opening of an unprecedented exhibition by the painters Youssef El Ghazouani Tounssi and Hafid El Amrani, who presented their latest creations to their public, while the poet Abderrahmane Ziouziou took the public on a sensory journey, through poems blending beauty, creativity and militancy.
In a statement to MAP, the provincial director of culture in Tetouan, Larbi El Mesbahi, stressed that the objective of this cultural event, in addition to its festive character, is to remind the rising generations of the importance of historical and political events and the heroic struggle led by Moroccans for the country's independence.
He noted that the evening was marked by several artistic activities and a vibrant tribute paid to institutions active in the fields of culture and the preservation of the memory of the resistance, in recognition of their role in highlighting the history of the resistance and culture in the region in general, and in Tetouan in particular.
For his part, the president of the "Tetouan Carnival for Drama and Creativity" Foundation, Mohammed El Aqel, indicated that the Foundation organises an artistic and cultural event every year, in commemoration of the anniversary of the presentation of the Independence Manifesto, while ensuring to pay tribute to cultural actors and members of the resistance family of the region.
He made it known that the Foundation chose, this year, to pay tribute to the Space of Historical Memory of Resistance and Liberation of Tetouan and to the city's Cultural Centre, in recognition of the role that these two institutions play in promoting the influence of the city of Tetouan, in the fields of the preservation of the memory of the resistance, culture and the arts.
For his part, the director of the Space of Historical Memory of Resistance and Liberation of Tetouan, Adil Dakdaki, noted that this distinction, although it is a recognition of the work and efforts of the institution in favour of the preservation of the memory of the resistance and liberation, is a tribute paid to all members of the family of the resistance and the liberation army of all regions of the Kingdom.
