On the occasion of the commemoration of the 17th anniversary of the enthronement of H.M. King Mohammed VI, the Royal Guard organised its traditional torchlight retreat on Saturday evening in Tetouan, treating a jubilant crowd to admirable parades. The torchlight retreat parade, a splendid embodiment of the Kingdom's rich civilisational heritage, preceded by a platoon of the Royal Cavalry, set off from the Royal Palace to travel through the main arteries of the city to the Place de la Colombe, where the elements of the Royal Guard offered, with verve and mastery, a colourful spectacle, under the sustained cheers of thousands of people who came to celebrate this joyful anniversary.
Likewise, the elements of the Royal Guard kept the Tetouan public in suspense, thanks to majestic weapon-handling figures, punctuated by melodies drawn from the repertoire of patriotic songs, which echo the greatness of the Kingdom and reflect the pride of an entire people. The inhabitants and visitors of the White Dove, who were keen to immortalise these unforgettable moments, were indeed captivated by the execution, in perfect order, of artistic tableaux to the sound of music orchestrated by a brass band and by the extraordinary and harmonious performances of the Royal Guard's horsemen who showed perfect mastery of their beautiful mounts. Accompanied by a captivated public, the torchbearers, dressed in their traditional costumes, then sang the national anthem before embellishing this spectacle with an exercise of disconcerting agility by executing, in impeccable order, parades in geometric figures, all against a backdrop of rhythm orchestrated by the brass band.
