Mobilising investments of more than 56.3 million dirhams (MDH), this project reflects the particular interest that His Majesty the King attaches to the human element and His unwavering determination to make it the centre and fundamental purpose of development initiatives (royal speech addressed to the Nation on the occasion of the Throne Day, 30 July 2012). This new centre, built by the Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion (OFPPT) over a total area of 34,148 m², will provide young people in the region with qualifying training in transport and logistics trades, notably warehousing, storage, packaging, handling, transport, and distribution. Like those built in Tangier, Casablanca, and Agadir, the new establishment will ensure a wide range of training, set up in a concerted manner with professionals in the sector, with a capacity of 1,500 trainees. Concerning road transport trades, the Institute will train specialised technicians in operations and transport, technicians in motor vehicle repair/heavy goods vehicle and coach option, and driving school instructors. Several qualifying training cycles are also scheduled, such as road freight and passenger driver and technical inspection visitor agent. The establishment also offers training in the field of logistics: this involves specialised technician responsible for logistics operations, logistics technician, in addition to a range of qualifying training courses, namely: warehousing and storage agent, warehouse forklift operator, and order picker. The new establishment should thus promote the employability of young people, promote the regional industrial and economic fabric, in addition to accompanying the implementation of the national strategy for the development of logistics competitiveness. To carry out its missions under optimal pedagogical conditions, the Institute is equipped with equipment (rolling vehicles, handling equipment...), and adapted premises (logistics hall, loading and unloading dock, handling equipment manoeuvring area, driving tracks, vehicle technical inspection, specialised rooms...). The various spaces of the centre will make it a true lever for development and promotion of the transport and logistics sector at the regional level and a structure for the supervision and integration of its young people. This project thus reinforces the various initiatives launched at the level of the Taourirt province, which set as their main objective the valorisation of its economic potential and human resources for an integrated and sustainable development of the region as a whole.
