B.H thought he was safe from any unpleasant surprises or vile aggression, as he was at the end of the afternoon in front of the gate of his school, the Oued Za middle school in Taourirt.
A sniper, positioned at the window of a house located opposite, fired three shots for unknown reasons in the direction of a group of students.
The crazed shooter, a 26-year-old man, would later justify his senseless act as an attempt to chase away pigeons.
B.H, 14, was seriously wounded in the arm. The outcome could have been much worse, as another bullet miraculously hit the schoolbag of another student. The remaining three students in the group had a narrow escape, as the last bullet fortunately missed them. B.H was rushed to the provincial hospital to receive the necessary care.
Alerted, members of the security forces arrived on the scene and raided the house from which the shots were fired. They had no difficulty in arresting the sniper, a friend of his, and his uncle, an emigrant in Spain. The weapon used in the crime, which had been hidden on the roof of the house, was seized, and the three individuals were arrested and immediately taken to the judicial police station in the Moulay Ali Chrif district. An investigation has been opened to question the main accused in this case to determine the motives behind his act, namely opening fire at point-blank range on students.
The administrative staff of the Oued Za middle school denounced this heinous act, which caused unprecedented fear among the students and the population of this peaceful town.
