The programme for the 3rd Tamesna Festival, organised from 13 to 15 March, includes round tables on "women's rights in Morocco, assessment and perspectives" and "civil society and urban development".
The Minister of Housing and Urban Policy, Mohamed Nabil Benabdellah, highlighted on Friday in Tamesna the role of new cities in developing the national approach to city policy, which is based on defining needs and priorities.
Speaking during the third edition of the Tamesna festival, organised by the Al-Omrane group in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Policy and civil society, Mr. Benabdellah stressed the importance of the new cities programme, which is a tool that contributes to the balance of the Moroccan urban network, meets housing needs, and guarantees better socio-economic service.
He also recalled that, under the High instructions of His Majesty the King, the resolution of real estate conflicts that have harmed several families in the city will be carried out.
For his part, the Chairman of the Al Omrane Management Board, Badr Kanouni, highlighted the stages achieved by the project since the launch of the city's construction on 13 March 2007, and which, eight years later, has all the necessary infrastructure (water, electricity, sanitation, road network connecting the city to the capital and the national motorway network, a mosque, three schools, and a vocational training institute in the construction and public works trades).
Mr. Kanouni also highlighted the efforts made which have allowed the city to be connected to its external environment, since the first phase of construction work on the road connecting Tamesna to the capital has been completed and the agreements for the construction of the road between Tamesna and Temara and the link to the Rabat express ring road have been signed.
He also welcomed the cooperation with civil society, which he said is an essential partner in this major project and which has developed a framework for communication and fruitful actions and developed the cultural and sporting animation of the new city, which was crowned this year by the organisation of the third edition of the annual Tamesna festival, under the theme "civil society, a lever for urban development".
For his part, the President of the Sidi Yahya Zaer Municipal Council, Laarbi Kharbouch, reviewed the development that the city of Tamesna and the commune of Sidi Yahya Zaer have experienced, which has joined the programme to upgrade the centre of the commune in order to strengthen its role in economic activity and the attractiveness of the region.
The programme for the 3rd Tamesna Festival, organised from 13 to 15 March, includes round tables on "women's rights in Morocco, assessment and perspectives" and "civil society and urban development", music shows hosted by popular and folk groups, a craft fair, and a carnival which will see the participation of nearly 500 children.
