The blue flag floats for the sixth time on Skhirat beach

Skhirat beach has been awarded the blue flag label for the sixth consecutive year. The blue flag, which now floats in the skies of this seaside site "clean and compliant with environmental standards," is the result of the efforts made by the prefecture of Skhirat-Témara, the urban commune of Skhirat, and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection and Redal, a subsidiary of Veolia Environnement Morocco. All of these partners involved in this 100% environmental project have set themselves the objectives of improving bathing water, development, cleaning, and management of the beach. To this is added the vast liquid sanitation program initiated by Redal within the commune of Skhirat. Not to mention the component dedicated to awareness-raising aimed at preserving this seaside site. Indeed, several programs have been initiated with the goal of disseminating good practices to preserve the environment and consolidate aspects related to safety. In this regard, Redal has committed to setting up sanitary infrastructure and to carrying out concrete actions to animate, manage, and clean the beach while encouraging vacationers, through awareness campaigns and workshops for children, to preserve this environment. And it was last Friday that the blue flag was raised on Skhirat beach during a ceremony in which a good number of officials took part. At their head, Younes Kasmi, governor of the Skhirat-Témara prefecture, Hassan Taleb, head of the "Clean Beaches" program of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, and Daniel Lafon, executive director of Redal. During this ceremony, Redal kicked off the "Clean Beaches 2012" operation. On the menu of this campaign, the Veolia subsidiary, as usual, has programmed several actions. To preserve the sanitary quality of bathing water, Redal will thus proceed to the implementation of an active monitoring system for the quality of this water, via "coliplage," a true innovation of the Veolia Group. This method allows bathing water to be analyzed in less than an hour. To this are added the mobilization of beach cleaning teams 7 days a week, the acquisition and installation of numerous infrastructures such as walkways and spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility and surveillance watchtowers.

And that's not all, since the delegated manager plans to install specific signage containing messages on environmental protection, citizen actions to be respected by vacationers, as well as the proposed entertainment program. Everything is well prepared to welcome bathers, the latter only have to adopt healthy behavior. Happy swimming while staying eco-friendly!

Awareness at the heart of the "clean beaches" operation

Entertainment is also part of the "Clean Beaches 2012" campaign. On the program, an environment village for the benefit of vacationers from June 15 until mid-August. On the menu: the Ludo-Info kiosk, which will host the fun and educational workshops of the educational program

"Ecolo’Plages." Developed by Veolia, this program is part of the actions developed by Redal in favor of sustainable development.

Objective: to raise children's awareness of the environment and the preservation of beaches.
