Placed under the aegis of the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA), this competition brings together military teams from twelve African countries, namely Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Libya, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tanzania, Tunisia, Zambia, as well as Morocco, as the host country.
Over five days, approximately 70 boxers will compete in different weight categories, embodying the values of discipline, fraternity, and fair play that underpin the spirit of military sport.
In his opening address for this sporting event, delivered on behalf of General of the Army Corps Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the Southern Zone, Division General Mohammed Lakouti, Inspector of FAR Artillery, indicated that the organisation of the 6th African Military Boxing Championship on Moroccan soil, following the High Approval of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, constitutes an exceptional honour for the Royal Armed Forces.
“The benevolent Royal Will reflects an integrated and fraternal approach to the relations linking Morocco to its African family,” he noted, adding that “this event goes beyond the simple framework of a sporting competition, but embodies a powerful symbol of fraternity, discipline, and cooperation between the armies of the African continent.”
The ceremony was marked by the participation of official representatives of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), which testifies to the major importance of this event in the African military sports calendar.
It took place in the presence of, among others, senior officers of the FAR General Staff, foreign military attachés from participating countries accredited to Rabat, numerous civilian and military personalities, as well as local authorities. The ceremony concluded with the parade of participating delegations, which highlighted the solemn, fraternal, and unifying character of this continental meeting.

In a statement to the press, Commander Hicham Chatibi, head of the International Competitions Division at the General Directorate of Inter-service Sports (DGSIA) of the FAR, indicated that the organisation of this sporting event under the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, reflects the interest the Sovereign attaches to the consolidation of African cooperation and the bonds of trust and friendship between the peoples of the continent.
Highlighting Morocco's role in the creation of the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa, Commander Chatibi stressed that the Royal Armed Forces have put in place all the logistical and organisational means to ensure the exemplary success of this championship, emphasising the commitment of the FAR to support regional integration and promote sportsmanship and fair play.
For his part, the Secretary General of OSMA, Frigate Captain Pierre Djendola, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to HM King Mohammed VI, who granted his High approval for the holding of this major sporting event in Morocco, praising the Kingdom's willingness to organise important OSMA events, which translates the active manifestation of African solidarity, integration, and friendship.
The honorary ambassador of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), Dorah Mamby Koita, expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom for hosting this 6th edition of the African Military Boxing Championship, highlighting the professionalism and excellence of military sports training in Morocco, from which he benefited at the FAR Sports Centre and the Royal Institute for the Training of Youth and Sports Executives.
He highlighted the deep fraternal relations of cooperation between Morocco and African countries in general, adding that the Kingdom has spared no effort to receive African athletes in the best conditions to promote the bonds of fraternity and cooperation.

On the sidelines of the opening ceremony, the President of OSMA, Division General Maikano Abdullahi, decorated Division General Mohammed Lakouti, Inspector of FAR Artillery, with the OSMA Commander of Merit insignia, as well as Colonel-Major Maati Moukane, head of the General Directorate of Inter-service Sports (DGSIA) of the FAR, with the OSMA Grand Officer of Merit insignia.
The Royal Armed Forces have organised numerous military sporting events, notably the 35th World Military Football Championship in 1993, the 44th World Military Cross-Country Championship in 1996, the 16th World Military Equestrian Sports Championship in 2004, as well as the 6th OSMA General Assembly in 2019.
