The invitation of Izenzaren to the Mawazine Festival was an opportunity to draw a large audience that still remembers the glory days of this group created just after that of Nass El Ghiwane. It was in a way the twin sister of the latter with practically the same instruments and the same tones. The only difference lies in the Amazigh language through which Izenzaren communicates with its fans. "At the beginning, we were encouraged by Omar Essayed who gave us an opportunity to appear, helped us, also, to record and to participate in festivals. Izenzaren and Nass El Ghiwane formed, back in the day, the same family," underlines Abdelhadi, leader and banjo player of the group.
Izenzaren is known for a warm and sincere music that transmits a culture and a heritage dear to the Amazigh people. Hence the influx of all those who needed to share these nostalgic moments with this iconic group of Amazigh music. Especially after an absence of more than twenty years where Izenzaren stopped producing and continued to live thanks to its old repertoire. "When we say that we stopped during all that time. That does not mean that we were no longer singing. But, we only stopped producing. Because we continued to participate in certain festivals in different regions of Morocco. Where the public needed to hear us. An artist cannot limit his creation. He is always in contact with his instrument," explains Abdelhadi, initiator of the musical current called "tazenzart" in reference to the group Izenzaren. And to add that "this stop was imposed on us by several factors beyond our control, such as the illness of some members of the group and other personal problems. Then the disappearance of my brother Lahcen which marked us a lot. But, the pleasure of the artist is to remain in permanent contact with his public. Especially since this eclipse was crowned by the release, in 2012, of the album entitled “Akal” (Earth)". Indeed, this rebirth of the group warmed the hearts of more than one, especially those thirsty to relive nostalgic moments, as well as young people who do not fail to be seduced by the committed lyrics of the group. Given that its members are "militants and activists who sing the revolution in Amazigh". That evening at Mawazine, they offered these same lyrics sung in chorus by the crowd of admirers present on the beach of Salé.
