A doctor sentenced to 10 months in prison for providing false medical certificates

The correctional chamber at the Court of First Instance of Rabat sentenced a doctor on Monday to ten months in prison and a fine of 20,000 DH for providing false medical certificates without carrying out the necessary examinations. The public prosecutor's office had placed the accused, who worked at the Ibn Sina University Hospital Centre in Rabat, in pre-trial detention for issuing medical certificates containing false data without carrying out examinations. The National Security elements in Rabat had proceeded to arrest the accused last February, after catching an individual who played the role of intermediary between him and people wishing to obtain a medical certificate without submitting to the necessary examinations, in exchange for sums of money that varied according to the duration of the work stoppage requested.
