The Chamat troupe presents "The Silence of the Fathers" in Meknes
Theatre The Chamat theatre troupe is inaugurating its new season with the presentation, for the first time, of the play "The Silence of the Fathers", on October 28th at the theatre of the Institut Français in Meknes. This new work, the result of three years of work, is an adaptation of the novel by Moroccan writer Rachid Benzine, indicates the Chamat troupe in a press release. For its 28th season, the troupe continues its unique artistic journey, opening up to diverse and multiple theatrical experiences, through this new creation inspired by the work of the Moroccan author. Published in 2023 by the French publisher Seuil, the novel "The Silence of the Fathers" highlights the journey and trials of thousands of Moroccan workers who contributed to the reconstruction of Europe and its development after the Second World War. The play is written and directed by Bousselham Daïf, and performed by Ayoub El Youssfi, Sanae Assif and Jamal Laababsi. The troupe thus continues an open and multidimensional project, combining artistic creation and training, through the organisation of several events, including the neighbourhood theatre tournament, the theatrical writing forum, and the Meknes International Theatre Festival.
