The supply of breeders in the Khénifra province with subsidised barley and compound feed, within the framework of the programme for the safeguarding and protection of livestock, reached 137,300 quintals for the year 2012, it was learned from the provincial directorate of agriculture (DPA).
This quantity, which constitutes the province's overall allocation, is divided between barley (102,300 quintals) and compound feed (35,000 quintals), specifies the DPA in a press release received by MAP, adding that more than 49,000 breeders in the various communes of the province should benefit from this operation, which is in its fourth phase.
According to the same source, the provincial commission in charge of the distribution of subsidised barley and compound feed recently held a meeting devoted to the evaluation of the 4th phase and the validation of the last two allocations newly assigned to the province.
As for compound feed, the distribution operation of the quantity reserved for the province has been completed for the benefit of approximately 7,000 breeders, the press release underlines.
Concerning barley, the operation, from which more than 42,000 breeders in total should benefit, is divided into six phases, four of which have already been settled, while the fifth (10,000 quintals) and the sixth (12,000 quintals) are in progress, notes the same source.
Regarding the fourth phase, this involved 10,000 quintals distributed to breeders in the various communes under the circles of Khénifra (3,143 quintals), Aguelmous (4,862 quintals), and El Kbab (1,995 quintals).
The number of farmers benefiting from this phase amounts to 6,803, of which 1,515 are from the Khénifra circle, 4,829 from the Aguelmous circle, and the rest (459) from the El Kbab circle, the same source made known.
