Amidst the economic stagnation plaguing the city of orphans and sand mines, and the lack of economic alternatives to rescue the city's youth from unemployment that is consuming their lives, the phenomenon of emigration among the youth of Jerada has significantly worsened. The weakness of infrastructure has also contributed to the bleakness of life for the residents, raising the question of Jerada's share of the development programmes intended for the Eastern region.
Apart from the preliminary approval by the Oriental Regional Council to contribute to the rehabilitation and maintenance of some public squares in the region's cities, including Jerada, no development or economic programmes have been allocated to the city despite the budget set aside for it. This has led to a noticeable increase in illegal immigration among Jerada's youth in search of a better life…
