"Upgrading agricultural products at the service of marketing", such is the theme of the third edition of the Agriculture Fair of the Guelmim-Smara region.

Organised by the regional directorate of agriculture of Guelmim-Smara and the Chamber of Agriculture in parallel with the international marketing days, this edition sees the participation of more than 100 exhibitors coming from the four provinces of the region who are exhibiting various local products, and also the participation of several Moroccan and foreign experts who will share their experiences with the farmers of Guelmim.

According to the organisers, this event aims to valorise the agricultural potential that the Guelmim-Smara region abounds with, known for its assets in terms of date palm cultivation and cactus, thus contributing to its national and international influence and allowing local producers to sell their products and exchange their experiences with researchers in terms of quality, packaging and marketing.

During this edition, the ministry's strategy in terms of development and valorisation of territorial products will be presented, taking into account the novelties of research in the agricultural sector at national and international levels and the new future orientations of applied research for the implementation of the national strategy on territorial products at the regional level.

Several workshops are scheduled during this fair which focus in particular on "The Green Morocco Plan: Morocco's strategy for the promotion of territorial products", "Territorial products and sustainable development" and "Territorial products and the accompaniment of local businesses". As well as practical workshops in the field of marketing for the benefit of local producers.

As a reminder and within the framework of the Green Morocco Plan, some 729.5 MDH have been invested in the 14 projects of the regional agriculture plan of Guelmim-Smara. More than 32 thousand people have benefited from these projects, which focus on the development of date palm cultivation, olive cultivation and camel breeding, as well as on the promotion of cactus products and the development of irrigated spaces in order to develop cereal production. This regional plan aims to reach a production of one million tonnes by 2020.
