The Fquih Bensalah Festival is still faithful to ancestral customs. For its 11th edition which will be held from 16 to 20 April, this event will also constitute, according to Mohamed Moubdii, president of the city's municipal council, "a locomotive that must contribute to pulling the entire Tadla-Azilal region upwards". As usual, the festival, which will be organised this year under the theme: "The horse, legacy, culture and generations", will allow the public to meet fantasia troupes from different regions of the Kingdom and discover their folklore. "Thus the region will vibrate, for a week, to the rhythm of a mosaic of shows offering a glimpse of the riches of Moroccan equestrian traditions and the folklore and customs of the region", advanced Mr. Moubdii, also Minister Delegate in charge of the Civil Service and Modernisation of the Administration. Moreover, this festival will also be an opportunity to promote the culinary traditions of the region and local tourism. 400 thousand visitors from the region and all over Morocco are expected at this event, which also aims to highlight the ancestral traditions of the region, notably those of the Beni Amir and Beni Moussa. Tribes known for having, at all times, made the horse the symbol of pride and bravery. In addition to the shows of mastery of the art of fantasia which will be presented by the riders, the initiators have concocted a rich and varied programme, with popular art troupes. Also, conferences and debates, a plastic art exhibition, a full-contact show, a race for people with special needs and a morning for children and a cycling race are on the menu. In parallel, a road race will be organised on 19 April at Place Mohammed VI, with the participation of national and foreign athletes. In short, the festival has plenty of surprises in store; you just have to go there to discover them.
