Mr. Khan confirmed in a statement on the results of the past year, that "the city of Essaouira also achieved a new record by recording more than 3 million overnight stays".

The Provincial Tourism Council of Essaouira highlighted that these figures reflect the performance of classified tourist accommodation establishments, noting that this is in addition to "the large flows of the informal sector and the rental of properties by the population, which always represent a very significant share of the tourist market in Essaouira".

According to Mr. Khan, "the year 2024 was also marked by an exceptional dynamic at the level of the tourism sector in Essaouira, which has seen the disappearance of the seasonal nature of tourist flows for ten years. Now, Essaouira is full of tourists all year round, in winter as in summer, and in autumn as in spring".

The same source indicated that "this development, which was contributed to and supported by the Essaouira civil society represented by the Essaouira Mogador Association, which organises or co-organises dozens of music festivals in addition to dozens of forums and meetings throughout the year to discuss, among other things, the centrality of culture, arts, and heritage in the pioneering sustainable development strategy which has been led with legitimacy and success for more than 30 years by the Essaouira Mogador Association".

He added that this year looks very promising, recalling the amazing progress of the City of Arts, Culture, and Heritage project which will bear the name of the world-famous architect Oscar Niemeyer, as well as the launch of renovation and development works for the "Mogador" tourist resort with a total investment of 5 billion dirhams.

The Provincial Tourism Council concluded that "it remains to provide a more appropriate response to the challenges of national and international connectivity for the city of Essaouira by road, air, and rail to consolidate and improve the exceptional momentum that the City of Wind is witnessing".

The President of the Provincial Tourism Council of Essaouira, Redwane Khanne, confirmed that the City of Wind "achieved a historic level during the year 2024 by recording more than one million tourists".
