Essaouira: "Jazz under the Argan Tree" festival, a space for the emergence of a new artistic generation (forum)

This meeting, which was hosted by Bayt Dakira on the theme "Importance of place, importance of bonds" in the presence of the Advisor to His Majesty the King and Founding President of the Essaouira-Mogador Association, Mr. André Azoulay, was an opportunity for an audience of musicians, researchers, journalists, and intellectuals to highlight the essential role of the "Jazz under the Argan Tree" festival in strengthening the identity of the City of the Wind as a cultural crossroads par excellence and a land for welcoming music from all over the world.

The participants highlighted the cultural dimension of the festival, which, alongside musical performances, constitutes a distinguished space for sharing, dialogue, and artistic exchange that allows for the establishment of unique international cooperation.

They also pointed out that this prominent musical event has established a unique model for intercultural encounters, as it allows Moroccan artists to benefit from the experiences of their international counterparts, in order to value the richness of their authentic musical heritage.

In this context, the speakers emphasized in particular the importance of this festival for the young generation of Moroccan and African jazz and world music artists, who find in this space a distinguished platform to make themselves known on the international level.

The discussions also focused on the need to preserve and strengthen the bonds between generations, artistic disciplines, and cultures for the sustainability of this space for innovation and experimentation that the "Jazz under the Argan Tree" festival represents.

On the other hand, the participants emphasized the importance of place as a factor of inspiration, highlighting the unique role that Essaouira plays as a land of welcome and inspiration for artists, whether they are local or from other horizons.

The eighth edition of the "Jazz under the Argan Tree" festival, organized by the Essaouira-Mogador Association until December 29, features about ten concerts, three musical improvisation sessions, and two forums each morning.

This event will conclude with a tribute to the African-American pianist Randy Weston, a tribute that will be signed by the icon of Malian music, Cheick Tidiane Seck, accompanied by his best musician friends to celebrate this icon.

Participants in a forum organized today, Saturday, in Essaouira, within the framework of the eighth edition of the "Jazz under the Argan Tree" festival, confirmed that this prestigious event, since its inception, has succeeded in establishing its position as a true space for the emergence of a new Moroccan, African, and international artistic generation.
