Five young photographers immortalize the nights of Essaouira

Photography is in the spotlight in Essaouira from November 2 to 28 at the Bab Marrakech gallery, which is hosting a photography exhibition entitled "Nocturnes d'Essaouira" or "Essaouira at night".

Five young photographers, each according to their style, their representation of the place and their perception of the senses, have majestically succeeded in immortalizing the nights of the city of the trade winds, which remains enchanting by day and by night.

For Zhor Amhaouch, delegate of the Ministry of Culture in Essaouira, the current exhibition is part of the new policy of the Ministry of Culture aimed at promoting cultural spaces, energizing them and making them accessible to the general public. After several exhibitions related to plastic creation, she added, the Borj Bab Marrakech gallery is hosting this exhibition of photographs by five young artists who have worked on the theme from different aspects.

Houcine Baladi, or the pain that gives birth to splendor, is a young Souiri taken in by the Bayti Association since the age of 13, and whose hidden talents were revealed and encouraged from a young age. Thanks to his efforts, he succeeded in perfecting his know-how. A work rewarded in 2004 by a cultural trip to Andalusia and by the first Prize of the art competition organized by the "Elegado Andalusia" Foundation within the framework of the Atlantic Andalusian Festival. His difficult childhood still marks his works inspired by the pain of street children and the destitute.

Mohammed Aknaik, born in Essaouira in 1983, exhibits his photographs inspired by his pictorial experience. As for Said Benhamida, he worked on the boundaries between dream and wakefulness while drawing from the magic of the nights of Essaouira. Soufiane Bouhali distinguished himself by the versatile nature of his experience. As for Siham Machrouh, she had started a beautiful career as an athlete before embracing photography. A turnaround that pushed her to work harder in order to strengthen her skills and acquisitions.
