A law graduate poses as a judge

We are in Essaouira. Mohamed, thirty-six years old, single, always dressed to the nines, arrived there a few days ago. Through a real estate agent, he managed to rent an apartment at a reasonable price. He only returned home holding a briefcase in his hand.

Upon his arrival, he tried to contract friendly relations with his new neighbours. When the owner of the residence where he lives asked him about his profession, he replied that he was a judge at the administrative court in Marrakech and that he had just been appointed to the court of Essaouira.

He also explained to him that he maintained important relations with high-ranking officials who do him favours. He specified that he had even allowed some friends to have licences for small and large taxis. The owner of the residence expressed his desire to have one.

Mohamed explained to him that he was ready to find him a small taxi licence for a sum of 80 thousand dirhams. The owner accepted, but Mohamed pocketed the sum and disappeared. A complaint was filed with the city's judicial police and the detectives launched an investigation.

One day, a policeman asked him for the car papers. Mohamed claimed he was a judge. But the policeman insisted on seeing the papers and even his national identity card. Faced with Mohamed's refusal, the policeman called his superiors who gave him instructions to take him to the police station. There, he was identified.

It turned out that he was wanted by the police of several cities, Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat, Fkih Ben Saleh, El Youssoufia... The police seized several fake documents and applications for licences and employment on board his car.

Mohamed, a private law graduate, had taken several competitive exams without success. To earn a living, he confessed to having resorted to fraud by posing as a judge and fleecing his victims. According to his confessions, he scammed more than twenty victims from whom he extracted more than 1,500,000 dirhams.
