The Citizen's House of Essaouira (Dar El Mouwaten) plays a leading role in the fight against social and economic precariousness, which argues in favour of boosting its action to enable it to be in tune with the changes that society is experiencing in different fields.
The development of the organisational and management tools of this establishment, a relay of the National Mutual Aid for local actions, and its opening to its environment, as well as the development of communication channels with the beneficiaries, are all necessary actions to enable it to enhance its training capacities and provide quality services to the targeted populations, according to the conclusions of a study day organised recently in the City of the Alizés.
The number of beneficiaries of the services of this establishment went from approximately 8,000 for the year 2005 to some 15,060 in 2012.
The main mission of this establishment, a point of convergence for NGOs, women, young people and children, is to respond to the needs of citizens in terms of training, capacity development and economic and social integration, emphasised the provincial delegate of National Mutual Aid, Abdelali Maâzouz.
The commitments made by the provincial delegation of National Mutual Aid in Essaouira, within the framework of an agreement with civil society, encourage the coordination of efforts with a view to consolidating and ensuring the sustainability of joint action for the benefit of destitute social strata or those in a situation of precariousness, he explained, noting that the partnership approach is capable of strengthening the role of the Citizen's House within its socio-economic environment.
The points of sequence with the programmes of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) constitute favourable articulations for the development of social projects concerning in particular reception and accommodation centres, multifunctional social centres, boarding schools, social protection centres, as well as for actions relating to the strengthening of the capacities of associations operating in the field of social action.
The associations working in the space of the Citizen's House provide training in fields as useful as they are varied, such as traditional and modern sewing, hairdressing, cooking and ceramics.
These trainings are intended essentially for women in a situation of precariousness, with a view to helping them improve their level of qualification and integrate into the labour market or create income-generating micro-projects and thus get out of the circle of vulnerability.
