Justice and education paralysed

Justice and education paralysed

The justice and education sectors in Essaouira have been experiencing a series of walkouts for two weeks.

In accordance with the programme initiated by the national bureau of the Democratic Justice Union affiliated with the FDT, court clerks at the court of first instance have been organising a series of sit-ins since the beginning of this week, widely followed by activists scandalised by the regression of rights and freedoms since the arrival of the current Minister of Justice and Liberties.

The protesters have thus exposed the numerous irregularities that continue to tarnish the image of the justice sector. Other sectors have, for their part, expressed their solidarity with the clerks.

To this end, the provincial secretary of the Education Union affiliated with the FDT expressed the solidarity of education officials with the clerks' demands while denouncing the regrettable return in force of repressive methods that were thought to be a thing of the past.

For two weeks, contract teachers affiliated with the national group and supported by the provincial offices of the most representative unions have been holding an open sit-in in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of National Education delegation. The protesters are demanding the regularisation of their administrative and financial situation while insisting on the deficit in human resources from which the education sector in Essaouira suffers.
