A mole in the Royal Gendarmerie

A mole in the Royal Gendarmerie

A case of disclosure of professional secrecy has just hit the headlines in the city of Essaouira following the discovery of a mole in the rounds of the Royal Gendarmerie after the case of the assault on the regional commander and another agent by a dealer.

It must be remembered that on November 7, 2008, a woman from the Mramer region located in the Taftecht circle in the province of Essaouira, was hospitalised at the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah hospital in a very critical state following an assault perpetrated by a dealer living in the same region. The attacker had savagely kidnapped and tortured her to the point of cutting her arteries and fingers.

In reaction to this heinous crime, the regional commander of the Royal Gendarmerie in Essaouira, freshly assigned, had orchestrated an operation to arrest the attacker; a night-time intervention which resulted in the injury of the regional commander and another agent following the response (by gunfire) perpetrated by this trafficker who fled but was arrested two days later.

Until then, it was a criminal case and an operation that went wrong. But the surprise of the Royal Gendarmerie services was great when they discovered, after the arrest of the attacker and verification of his mobile phone, several calls coming from the numbers of two agents of the Royal Gendarmerie of Essaouira. Furthermore, two members of the judicial brigade, who were arrested and referred to the military prison of Kenitra, took care to warn the dealer a quarter of an hour before the arrival of the Royal Gendarmerie forces, the regional commander at their head. This allowed the trafficker to use his rifle to commit his crime.

This case, handled with complete discretion by the Royal Gendarmerie services, calls into question the dubious relationships linking certain agents with criminals and drug traffickers in the province of Essaouira.

For several years, the famous trafficker, benefiting from the passivity of the representatives of the law, sowed terror throughout the Mramer region; a criminal without scruples.
