The Tafilalet Association is organising, from 6 to 13 May, its twentieth annual Tafilalet medical caravan, placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This large-scale humanitarian and social action will see, as usual, the participation of dozens of volunteer Moroccan doctors, of all specialties combined, indicates a statement from the association. The official launch ceremony for this twentieth medical caravan will take place on 6 May 2016 at 8:30 am at the Magistrates and Justice Personnel Club in Rabat, the same source highlights. The caravan's operating mode is divided into two parts: fixed groups and mobile groups. The fixed groups will carry out their mission throughout the duration of the caravan and will be based at the Errachidia hospitals (Moulay Ali Cherif and the ophthalmological hospital) and Goulmima. As for the mobile groups, they will travel through the various communes of the region and will operate, each day, in different localities.
"Circumcision surgical procedures will begin for the inhabitants of the Errachidia municipality on Saturday, 7 May 2016 at 10 am, upon prior presentation of medical certificates established by paediatric surgeons. These operations will continue in the communes of the Errachidia, Midelt, Tinghir, and Zagora provinces during the period from 7 to 12 May. Likewise, cancer screening, stomatology, and optical and ophthalmological correction teams will accompany the mobile groups during their journey," the same source indicates. General and specialised medical consultations, as well as minor surgery procedures, are also planned, the ambition being to relieve the suffering of sick people who are helpless and left to their own devices in rural communes lacking resources and in remote or isolated regions.
