The ancestral art of Tbourida in the spotlight

The third edition of the Kelaâ Sraghna Festival took place from the 16th to the 19th of October, under the banner "Tbourida, a component of our cultural heritage and our intangible capital".

A wide and rich range of activities made up the vintage of this event initiated by the municipal council of Kelaâ Sraghna in collaboration with the Kelaâ Festival Association. The programme, as intense as it was varied, concocted by the organisers, was able to judiciously mix cultural, economic, recreational, sporting, educational and artistic activities in order to mark the event and reach visitors of all ages.

Intended to contribute to the cultural influence of the city and to make known the different potentials of the province, this edition gave pride of place to the ancestral art of Tbourida (fantasia) through breathtaking shows and performances executed with brilliance, skill and mastery by seasoned troupes of riders, including a women's team and another from the Southern provinces of the Kingdom.

On the menu were also tributes to former riders in the art of Tbourida, an exhibition of traditional equestrian arts and a free drawing competition on the theme of Tbourida.

Regarding the artistic and cultural aspect, the public was spoilt for choice among the palette of activities offered, including two major musical evenings hosted by big names in Moroccan song, an evening of Madih and Samaâ and daily performances of both local and national folklore. The public was also invited to discover the festival through a journey of events of all kinds including, among others, an exhibition of handicrafts and local products, a hunting competition, a shooting competition, a women's football match, a cycling race, a regional taekwondo tournament and another of pétanque, fairground games for children and a book signing ceremony.

Now an essential platform at the regional level, this festival allowed the public who came in large numbers to warmly applaud the shows and exploits of the riders, to get fired up to the sounds of popular music and to appreciate at their true value the richness and diversity of the local crafts and local products.
