The day of 8 March will be marked above all by the tributes that will be paid to the city's iconic female figures.

Eager to make International Women's Day a local celebration for the women of El Jadida, the provincial association for cultural affairs of El Jadida has concocted a rich and varied programme to better celebrate the Jdidies.

"The event's primary objective is to celebrate women in all their splendour, courage, and involvement in the projects of their community and their city, and also to promote the important role that women play, regardless of their background or profession, for the development of our country," explain the organisers.

Thus, a collective female exhibition of artists from the region or who have chosen it as a place of creation or source of inspiration will be open to the public and will reveal the recent works of a handful of ladies who have left their mark on the visual arts scene in Morocco.

Also on the menu for this day dedicated to women is a tribute paid to iconic figures of the city, whether in the scientific, artistic, literary, or even political, media, or sporting fields. The film "Chaibia" will also be screened during this tribute evening.

Furthermore, the organisers also plan to distribute flowers and gifts in the streets of the city, in addition to various services offered, notably: beauty treatments, henna tattoos... as well as a coaching session on managing the major areas of life.

The icing on the cake, some taxis in the city will offer their services free of charge to women, "a way to express their wishes and gratitude on the occasion of this day".
