The Irish airline "Ryanair" launched a new air route today, Wednesday, connecting Madrid and Dakhla, with two flights per week (Wednesday and Saturday).
The plane landed at Dakhla airport, marking the inauguration of its first flight on this new route, carrying a number of Moroccans of the world and foreign tourists, which strengthens the air connection between Morocco and Spain, within the framework of a memorandum of understanding signed between the Moroccan National Tourism Office and the airline "Ryanair".
On this occasion, a ceremony was organised in the presence of a number of local officials and actors in the tourism sector.
Thus, "Ryanair" becomes the fourth partner of the Moroccan National Tourism Office to open a direct international service to Dakhla, after Royal Air Maroc, "Binter Canarias", and "Transavia".
The President of the Provincial Tourism Council of Oued Ed-Dahab, Othman Aamar, confirmed in a statement to the press that the launch of this new route will enable the strengthening of air connectivity to the city of Dakhla, which is experiencing remarkable development in the tourism sector.
For his part, the President of the Regional Tourism Council, Ahmed Abdellaoui, confirmed that the launch of this air route between Dakhla and Madrid will enable the highlighting of the tourism potential that the region abounds with, and attract significant foreign investment.
For their part, a number of Moroccans residing abroad expressed their happiness at being able to visit Dakhla thanks to the opening of this new air route, highlighting the quality of the reception and the tireless efforts made at the level of Dakhla airport regarding comfort and fluidity.
In addition to this air route, another flight connecting Dakhla to the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands will be launched during the current month, at a rate of two flights per week.
These new air routes will enable the doubling of the current international capacity of the airport, thus bringing the offer to nearly 47,000 seats. They will also make Spain the first and main market towards Dakhla, ahead of France. (MAP)
