Port of Dakhla.. Coastal and artisanal fishing landings increase by 5 percent by the end of last November (Office)

Data indicated that the quantity landed during the mentioned period reached 146,472 tonnes, with a financial value estimated at 1.03 billion dirhams, an increase of 18 percent compared to the same period in 2023 (139,972 tonnes / 876.26 million dirhams).

The source added that the quantities of pelagic fish landed at the port of Dakhla recorded an increase of 11 percent by the end of last November, reaching 110,018 tonnes, achieving a financial value of 661 million dirhams, an increase of 37 percent, compared to 99,336 tonnes / 483.87 million dirhams in 2023.

Regarding the quantities of white fish landed at the port of Dakhla, they experienced a decrease of 10 percent, reaching about 36,194 tonnes, recording a decrease in financial value of 2 percent, estimated at 330.85 million dirhams, compared to the same period last year (40,256 tonnes / 336.92 million dirhams).

As for molluscs, the landed quantities recorded a decrease of 56 percent, reaching 9 tonnes during the mentioned period, with a financial value of 717 thousand dirhams, a decline in financial value of 67 percent compared to 20 tonnes / 2.19 million dirhams during the same period in 2023.

Regarding crustaceans, they also experienced a decrease of 30 percent by the end of November in terms of quantity (250 tonnes / 37.7 million dirhams), compared to 355 tonnes / 53.2 million dirhams during the same period.

At the national level, the total landed quantities of coastal and artisanal fishing products reached 1,233,568 tonnes by the end of November 2024, an increase of 1 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

According to the National Fisheries Office, the value of these landed quantities reached about 10 billion dirhams, an increase of 6 percent compared to last year.
