Protecting the rights of migrants at the heart of a training workshop in Dakhla

The protection of migrants' rights was at the heart of a training workshop organised on Monday in Dakhla, at the initiative of the Regional Human Rights Commission (CRDH) of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab.

Supervised by the Directorate for the Protection of Human Rights and Monitoring under the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), this training workshop is part of the implementation of the CRDH's annual action plan, in its component relating to strengthening the capacities of stakeholders and actors working in the field of migration.

This training session allowed participants to consolidate their knowledge regarding the issue of migration and human rights, in order to improve the quality of services offered to migrants, while guaranteeing their fundamental rights.

Speaking on this occasion, the president of the CRDH of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, Maimouna Essayed, stressed that this training workshop aims to establish bridges between the various stakeholders concerned with the migration issue, and to strengthen the capacities of institutional actors in this area.

"The issue of migration represents an important challenge at the level of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region," she continued, stressing the need to strengthen the capacities of institutional actors and civil society, in order to better address issues related to the protection of migrants' rights, according to a humanitarian approach based on human rights.

For his part, the director of monitoring and protection of human rights at the CNDH, Abderrafie Hamdi, stressed that Morocco, through the national immigration and asylum strategy, has adopted a humanist and global approach to migration issues, noting that the Kingdom aims to be an African leader in terms of migration governance.
Mr. Hamdi, in this sense, stressed the need to engage in a debate with institutional actors and civil society to ensure better migration governance.

This training workshop was punctuated by interventions focused in particular on "Migration and asylum: key axes of national policy", "Stay and integration of foreigners in Morocco: protection challenges" and "The right of asylum: protection and access to rights for refugees".
