It is within the framework of a large-scale operation organised by the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) that 170 European influencers from the world of media and tourism came to discover Dakhla and its region.
These guests or explorers included 100 journalists and some 70 travel agents and tour operators from France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Scandinavia for a stay in Dakhla from 4 to 6 March.
Very busy, too busy, some of the visitors would say, the programme for this visit included numerous activities: highlighting the richness of the local cultural heritage with a Hassani dance show; discovery of the fauna, flora, and archaeological sites of the region; visit to the new craft centre and the conference centre which can accommodate 500 people; the fishing port and agricultural projects.
Having arrived by special Paris-Dakhla flight, the guests appreciated for three days the hospitality of the Moroccan Sahrawis, but also and above all the different potentials that the region holds. Between sea and desert, the world capital of water sports, its lagoon, its dunes emerging from the ocean, and its desert spaces extending as far as the eye can see seduced these visitors who, upon embarking for the return to their respective countries, cast a look of regret. A look that expresses the firm will of a next return for a longer stay and a more in-depth exploration of these bewitching, still virgin spaces.
In a press release made public on this occasion, the Director General of the ONMT, Abderrafia Zouitene, explained the goal of this excursion: "Our objective is to inform, through a real 'customer' experience, all the target markets about the magic that Dakhla offers its visitors, and this throughout the year. It is a peaceful city that has experienced strong development in recent years and which continues to project itself into the future with assurance and confidence."
