Housing: 1.5 billion DH from Al-Omrane Al Janoub for Dakhla and Laâyoune
A special effort has been made in the Southern provinces in terms of the fight against insalubrious housing, which has allowed for the eradication of shanty towns in Laâyoune and Dakhla.
A special effort has been made in the Southern provinces in terms of the fight against insalubrious housing, which has allowed for the eradication of shanty towns in Laâyoune and Dakhla. The latter two benefited from 1.5 billion dirhams within the framework of housing, urban planning and city policy projects.These projects concerned urban renewal, upgrading, development and allotments. The realisation of this vast programme has allowed for the achievement of satisfactory results, notably the opening to urbanisation of new zones estimated at 1,680 ha, the servicing of more than 46,000 housing lots, the demolition of more than 20,000 shacks in shanty towns and camps in the main cities, to lead to the declaration of Laâyoune as a "city without shanty towns" in July 2008 and Dakhla in January 2010.
