Creation of a Provincial Council in Chefchaouen

The inauguration of this Council by the governor of the province, Ismaïl Abou El Houkouk, in the presence of local tourism actors, is part of the efforts deployed by the various stakeholders to support the region's adherence to the national tourism strategy "Vision 2020".

This Council, composed of hoteliers, restaurateurs, guides, bazaar owners, managers, and owners of travel agencies, aims to promote tourism development in the province, in consultation with the various stakeholders in the sector, and to boost the local and regional economy.

According to the same source, the Provincial Tourism Council is expected to develop a work strategy to increase the tourism profitability of the province and shed light on the local tourism product, while exploiting the cultural and natural potentials of the region.

The Provincial Tourism Council of Chefchaouen is authorised to provide advisory opinions to investors, promote tourism activity in the region, and conduct surveys and scientific studies on the tourism sector, in order to serve the economic actors concerned.

The statement notes that the province of Chefchaouen abounds with diversified potentials and significant infrastructure, requiring optimal exploitation for tourism development and the enrichment of the region's tourism product.

Thus, the tourism potentials of the region should be accompanied by the improvement of tourism services provided in terms of reception, the implementation of modern means of transport, and the restoration of historical and natural tourist sites, namely Rass El Ma, Outa Hamam, Akchour, and Elkanar.
