The first Festival of Cultures of origin in Bouanane (122 km south of Bouarfa) is being held from 8 to 10 November under the theme "Cultural heritage, the foundation of the development project for the Oasis of Bouanane".
Organised in partnership with the Oriental Agency, the Regional Council, the Ministry of Culture delegation, the provincial council and the rural commune of Bouanane, this festival aims to revive local heritage and the region's cultural legacy, and to develop and consolidate the social, cultural and humanitarian dimensions of solidarity tourism.
The Festival also aspires to highlight the richness and diversity of the region's cultural heritage, which, according to the Festival director, Abou Hamid Abd El Hamid, constitutes significant capital to be leveraged for the benefit of local development.
The opening ceremony of this cultural event was marked by local folklore performances by troupes from Figuig and Bani Tadjit.
A rich and diverse programme has been set by the organisers, including conferences on solidarity tourism, oral heritage and international cooperation.
