Berrechid – The 2nd edition of the National Competition for the recitation of the Holy Quran, which began Friday evening in Berrechid, was marked by the qualification of 12 finalists out of a total of 251 participants representing all regions of the Kingdom.
This two-day competition is organized by the Al Badil Association for Development, in partnership with the Local Council of Ulema of Berrechid.
In a statement to the MAP, the president of the Local Council of Ulema of Berrechid, Abdelmoughit Bassir, emphasized that this Quranic competition testifies to the particular attention that Morocco pays to the Holy Quran as well as to its memorizers and reciters, under the high benevolence of His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful.
He added that this competition is part of the perpetuation of the Moroccan tradition in terms of memorization and recitation, thus offering a precious opportunity to pay tribute to the servants of the Holy Quran.
Mr. Bassir, in this regard, assured that the Local Council of Ulema provides its support to associations active in this field through, in particular, the organization of recitation competitions, with a view to stimulating emulation among young people and also promoting Moroccan methods and recitations in the register of recitation.
For her part, the president of the Al Badil Association for Development, Laghzal Badil, welcomed the success of this edition marked by the participation of a significant number of candidates of both sexes, of all ages, and coming from different regions of the Kingdom.
Another statement to the MAP, that of the president of the jury, Miloud Lmraoui, who noted that this edition stands out for its openness to new forms of Moroccan recitations, noting the importance of such competitions in encouraging young people to perfect their talent for memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran.
Note that the qualifying phase began 15 days before Ramadan on the website of the association organizing the competition.
