The regional directorate of culture of Casablanca-Settat is organizing the Regional Book Fair from December 23 to 27 in Ben Ahmed, under the theme "The book facing digital challenges".
In a press release, the regional directorate indicated that the organization of this fair is part of the strategy of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication – Department of Culture, in terms of promoting books, aiming to value everything related to them and to encourage reading. This edition, organized in collaboration with the prefecture of the province of Settat and the communal council of the city of Ben Ahmed, is part of a series of regional fairs that aim each year to achieve several objectives related to the promotion and dissemination of books.
Among these objectives are, notably, bringing books closer to the public, in particular children and pupils, the promotion of reading and creativity, the strengthening of interaction between authors and publishers, as well as support for the editing and publication of works intended for youth. The press release specifies that the choice of the city of Ben Ahmed to host this cultural event this year is explained by its historical importance and its emblematic figures in various fields related to literature and the arts. This choice also aims to strengthen the cultural dynamic that the city has been experiencing recently.
