The city of Bejaâd hosts the Moussem of Sidi Mhamed Cherki

The province of Khouribga is at the time of its great Moussem, that of the city of Bejaâd, or more exactly of Sidi Mhamed Cherki, which will take place from 11 to 15 November current. Its preparation was the subject of several meetings at the headquarters of the province, which led to the constitution of several commissions, notably that of security, so that the event takes place according to the rules of the art. The Moussem of Sidi Mhamed Cherki aims to pay tribute to this saint whose sanctuary is maintained in excellent conditions in order to preserve the tradition of a glorious past. It is also an opportunity for thousands of visitors to experience pleasant moments of relaxation and distraction. This year, the Moussem will be characterised by the organisation of exhibitions relating the socio-economic particularities of the province in the fields of handicrafts, livestock, and industry. It will also be dominated by great religious ceremonies and "Tbourida" shows.

The city of Bejaâd, which hosts this great religious, cultural, and also economic event, is located on the main road number 13 which connects Casablanca and the province of Béni Mellal through Khouribga. It covers an area of approximately 500 ha. Bejaâd was founded by Sidi Bouâbid Cherki in the second century of the Hegira, during the time of the Saadian Sultan Ahmed El Mansour Eddahbi. Bejaâd occupied, in the past, a choice cultural and scientific place and radiated throughout the region. It provided for the needs of the surrounding Souks in terms of artisanal products, carpentry, construction materials, textile products, etc. "Bejaâd constitutes a decisive crossroads for the economic and social development of the province of Khouribga, thanks to the interest granted to it within the framework of the decentralisation policy," emphasised Abdellatif Chadali, governor of the province during a meeting held in perspective of the Sidi Mhamed Cherki Moussem. In this sense, the city constituted, in the past, a stopover and transit stage for commercial caravans connecting the centres of Fez and Marrakech through Tadla, Zaër, and Meknès.
