The curtain fell on Friday evening on the 36th International Cultural Moussem of Asilah, during a ceremony held under the sign of communication and recognition towards the Zailachis who have marked the daily life of this charming city in the North of the Kingdom. Surrounded by their loved ones, the city's inhabitants took turns at the podium to receive the prizes awarded to them by the Asilah Forum Foundation, in reward for their contributions to the economic, social, cultural, and sporting life of the city. A dozen prizes were awarded on this occasion, including those for the model mother, the working woman, the artisan, the athlete, the child, and the Association of the Year, in addition to two prizes rewarding the most deserving students in the baccalaureate and the winners of the poetry, novel, theatre, and journalism competitions organised in the wake of this edition. At the end of this ceremony, enhanced by the presence of local elected officials and Moroccan and Arab intellectuals, a message of loyalty addressed to H.M. King Mohammed VI was read. In a statement to the MAP, the secretary general of the Asilah Forum Foundation, Mohamed Benaïssa, stressed that this year's balance sheet was rich in more than one respect, due to the number and quality of the personalities who took part in the scheduled colloquia, including government officials, intellectuals, researchers, and journalists from around the world. Among the highlights of this edition were the awarding of the Tchicaya U Tam'si Prize for African poetry to the Ivorian Josué Guébo and the organisation of a "creativity space" which hosted the novelist, screenwriter, and director Youssef Fadel this year. The children, in turn, were treated to moments of creativity and entertainment within the framework of painting, writing, theatre, and journalism workshops which were crowned by the awarding of prizes to the most deserving children. This 36th Moussem left good echoes among the public and participants who did not miss any opportunity to salute the Sovereign's will to work to make development, freedom, democracy, and stability a daily reality for Moroccans, summarised Mr. Benaïssa, adding that the Kingdom is perceived as a model and an exception in a regional environment marked by violence and extremism.
