The National Office of Fisheries (ONP) reported a slight increase (4%) in coastal and artisanal fishing landings at the port of Al Hoceima, reaching 2,265 tonnes (T) at the end of November 2024.
In its latest report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco, the ONP specifies that the market value of these catches increased by 10% to reach more than 126.52 million dirhams (MDH), compared to more than 114.74 MDH at the end of November 2023, the ONP specified.
By species, the quantities of pelagic fish landed in this port decreased by 27% during the first eleven months of 2024 to 501 T, for a value estimated at more than 21.31 MDH (-28%), compared to more than 29.73 MDH/683 tonnes at the end of November 2023.
Landings of white fish, however, increased by 5% to 307 T, for a value of approximately 11.99 MDH (+10%), compared to more than 10.92 MDH/292 T year-on-year.
Regarding cephalopod landings, they increased by 25%, reaching 1,392 T for revenues of more than 87.78 MDH (+33%), while for crustaceans, landings fell by 28% to 66 T, generating revenues of approximately 5.44 MDH (-32%).
At the national level, landings of marketed coastal and artisanal fishing products reached 1,233,568 tonnes at the end of November 2024, down 1% compared to the same period a year earlier. In value, these landings recorded an increase of 6% to nearly 10 billion dirhams.
