The Agadir Security Prefecture reported in a clarifying statement to public opinion, regarding the incident of the assault on two foreign tourists, yesterday, Saturday 24 May, on the city's corniche, which resulted in the injury of the tourists and the loss of one of their phones at the scene of the assault.
The Security Prefecture statement mentioned that "some press sites and accounts on social networks circulated news tainted with inaccuracy in some of its details, claiming that two foreign tourists were subjected to theft with violence while they were walking on the coastal strip of the city of Agadir."
To enlighten public opinion, according to the same statement, the Agadir Security Prefecture confirms that the tourist police elements had arrested, yesterday afternoon, Saturday, two people aged 21 and 31, one of whom has a criminal record, for suspicion of their involvement in a case related to the use of violence against two foreign tourists.
The source added, "The preliminary data of the investigation indicate that the suspects entered into a casual dispute with the two foreign tourists, while they were at the level of the beach of the city of Agadir, before the matter developed into the suspects subjecting the two foreign citizens to violence, in addition to one of them losing his mobile phone under circumstances that the investigation is currently working to determine its circumstances and backgrounds."
The statement concluded that the immediate intervention of the tourist police elements resulted in the arrest of the suspects on the spot, while the two foreign tourists were transported to the hospital, where they received the necessary initial treatment. The suspects have been placed in police custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation being conducted under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution, in order to reveal all the circumstances and details of this case, and to determine the criminal acts attributed to the concerned persons.
