The member of the Royal Golf of Agadir, Fatiha Benbirik, won the 1st Series event of the Moroccan Women's Trophy, organised on Thursday at the Royal Golf of Anfa-Mohammedia (RGAM).
Benbirik leads in this competition, placed under the aegis of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG), the members of the RGAM, Yasmina Diouri, second, and Rajaa Bellamine, third.
In the 2nd Series, first place went to Fatima Ettahi, of the Royal Golf of Agadir, ahead of Raja Cherkaoui, of the Royal Golf of El Jadida and Nadia Ben Mansour of the Fes Golf. The programme also included third and fourth series events, as well as the junior category.
According to the FRMG, "more than 120 participants from all the clubs in the Kingdom () showed off their qualities as competitors, while showing exemplary sportsmanship".
In a press release received on Friday by the MAP, the FRMG stressed that this tournament, organised in commemoration of Moroccan Women's Day, was a remarkable success, adding that the competition, contested in Net Stableford, showed the good health of Moroccan women's golf.
Quoted by the press release, the delegate president of the FRMG, Mustapha Zine, congratulated, during the prize-giving ceremony, all the participants for their fair play, saluting the efforts of the various stakeholders to ensure the full success of this tournament, notably the officials of the RGAM Committee and Women's Golf at the Federation's Sports Commission.
He also paid tribute to the national written and audiovisual media for their role in the promotion of Moroccan golf, adds the press release.
